Asanuma 135mm f-2.8 Auto-Tele Corner Sharpness-1-1

Corner

Sharpness
f/2.8: This lens is pretty soft with some coma and lots of chromatic and spherical aberration causing low contrast.
f/3.5: Sharpens up a tiny bit with a little more contrast but still a fair bit of chromatic and spherical aberration.
f/4: It’s sharper with a lot more contrast but still has a bit of chromatic and spherical aberration making the lens look softer then it is.
f/8: It’s decently sharp all over and most of the spherical aberration is gone. The contrast is still not radiant and you can still see a bit of chromatic aberration.

Vignetting
A fair bit of vignette at f/2.8 which quickly leaves by f/3.5 and almost all gone at f/4.

Bokeh
The blur is actually not too bad and probably one of the better features of the optics but not great.

Distortion
It has a little more then usual pincushion distortion for a 135mm but not too bad.

I would not go out of my way looking for this lens but if you can find one for a good price it can’t hurt. It’s a really well built lens, very easy to use, and the optics aren’t terrible but just not too exciting. My copy was a M42 mount, so it could be used on multiple digital bodies with adapters which are really cheap.
